Has anyone upgraded their security by fitting the central locking kit?

How much did you buy it for? In a couple of mini places I have seen it for sale for around £70, which I think is too much.

Is it worth the money?

I fitted central locking to mine, just for something to do.
£70 is a lot of money for it IMHO.

I used a universal Maplins kit, which was on offer for about £14 at the time. Some ally strip from a DIY place (£2) and a bit of fiddling saw it fitted in a couple of days.
Worst job is drilling the holes in the door/A post for the wires to pass through.

Oh and it offers no added security at all. I still check both doors just to make sure they are locked.

fitted to a m8s mini with him, was a nightmare, he got the mini kit for £60, had to drill a huge hole in the side of each door for the wires, two holes for each solonode, 2 holes for the linkage and then one in the original locking linkage, we never managed to get it to work properly, you could either lock it for the drivers door or unlock it from the drivers door, we never managed to get it to work both ways as even .5 MM makes a huge difference.

dont know what the mini central locking kit is like but some of them are very easy to break in to with the use of a tennis ball (well half)
