Looking for some input here.

Whats the biggest wheels you have saw on a mini (not a monster truck)
for road use... ?

I have saw 15's but was wondering if anyone has saw or has pics of anything bigger..

Thinking about deep dish 18"s with a machined adapter plate and modded wheel arches and bodywork...

Can mould sportspack style arches in GRP to suit so not an issue there,
and can machine adapter plates to suit various wheel fitments...

But just need to know what you have saw.

I am in the planning stage of my radical mini

Engine sorted... honda twin cam...!

Doors...lambo conversion clicky got mine reserved

interior sorted..
now it is just wheels to go, and of course bodywork around the wheels

I think getting much beyond 15"s becomes really hard work because of the rear radius arm, I seem to remember that at that size there starts to become real clearance issues at the top of the radius arm, where it meets the heel board.

Didnt think you could fit anything over 14 inch due to the clearance issues with the radius arm on the inner tyre edge nearest the heal board. With massive negative offsets bearing reliability is a problem. 14s fit without any more mods than the 13s but its a fine line between fitting and not. The problem is the width of the tyre, 195mm, which cannot be moved inwards due to the clearance problems so has to be moved outward, which is fine if you got arches like the sports pack, the wheels will most deffinately fill the arch. I built a model wheel using the tyre overall diameter and adjusted the offset to allow it to fit. I've got the measurements somewhere, see if i can find them, making it easier to select a wheel if any one is interested. but it is not realy worth the extra cost or hassle, hence why I bought genuine sports pack wheels. I was put off with the cost and restricted style availability in the 4 inch PCD, unless you have them made, which again costs a fortune. One likely place to get anything over 13 inch in the right PCD and offsets is http://www.compomotive.co.uk/ Though expect a negative attitude when explaining to people that you are fitting 14s on a mini. Most people just dont want to know. No one thinks outside the box any more

i think the metro radius arms are a little bit longer but you would have to use coil springs :smartass:

also bearings wont live for long as there is more force placed upon them due to extra unsprung weight

Well any size wheel can of course be fitted to a Mini but who wants to clarify how much of the car is to stay original

Seiously, you like that?!? :erm: :saywhat:

Ah well each to their own! I'm pretty sure that kit isn't made in the UK, might even be a custom jobby. In fact looking at that photo, I'm not entirely sure whether it was taken in the country!
