I bought a Mk1 Fiberglass Bonnet for my car but obviously the brackets are in a different position.
Whats the best way to cut the old Fiberglass brackets off and smooth the area down after? (Dremel / Grinder ?)
I want the under side of the bonnet to be fairly smooth where the old brackets were so I can either glass my own aluminium brackets on or I was thinking of cutting the back half of the original bonnet supports off and reglassing them on to the bonnet.
Does anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions?

Grind them off and then just use bonnet pins.

I was thinking of just grinding them off but wasn't sure about the heat generated etc. Idealy I would like to do what campfreddy did to his flip front on the rat. I just have to figure out how to mark everything with the bonnet shut

I was just looking at the grills online and noticed the Mk1 doesn't have the cut out for the passenger side air vent like the Mk3 etc. Would this cause a problem or should I just get the Mk1 grill and cut out an opening in it myself?

Does anyone think this is a good idea?

As long as you only cut a hole in the back plate, and it doesnt disturb any of the rivets holding the bars on I am sure that it will be fine. You only need to drill some holes with a hole saw I would say.
