Evening!

I'm really keen on converting my mini to ten inch wheels but I'd like to know what you all think of the tyres you can get, which are the best, which are rubbish etc?

I love the look of the A032s but have heard they aren't very good for a daily drive (I do 250 miles a week) because they take a while to warm up and aren't good in the wet, plus they are expensive!

I have the A032R's on my daily drive, had them on for a few weeks and have had no problem with traction in the wet or when they are cold. Best Tyres I've ever had and would strongly recommend.

These are the new Japanese Dunlop R7, excellent radial replicas of the famous 1960's CR65 racing tyre now imported by Minispares but not cheap:

I've gone for the A008's, all depends on how hard you like to drive the car!

Not very hard driving- a bit across town and then dual carriageway, I just have the A539s on my 12 inch's at the mo and they're really good and grippy so I want something that's as good!

Good to hear a couple of you think the A032s are ok!

What about Falkens? Are they rubbish?!

Falkens are classed as budget tyres generally, I would stick with the Yoko's personally. If day to day use I would use A008's as they are more hard wearing and a good overall tyre but I dont see why you couldnt use A032's aslong as you dont mind paying a little bit more.

Bit of thread hijack but does anyone recall a 10 inch tyre that had sorta the same tread pattern as the A032's? Dunlop seems to ring a bell but im not sure, anyone know of it, only saw it once on the web and wish id made note of it?!

Nothing wrong with Falkens. I've won historic rallies on them as well as on 008's. Falkens are better than 008's on slightly muddy surfaces and on average road surfaces. However, they need about 34 psi to work at their best.
The Falkens are still good when they wear a bit unlike the 008's which fall off when worn except on very smooth and dry tarmac.
Falkens seem better in the wet than the 008's.
Wear rate is reasonably good on Falkens.

I've got falkens on my tens and they are fine in the dry. not tried them in the wet yet.

When I bought the car the guy took me out in it and it did understeer a lot in the wet, but the tyre pressures were waayyyyy to low!

hi there ive had falkens and yoko aoo8's on my daily clubman.i do 12,000 a year and my experience is the falkens last a lot longer but arent as good in the wet ,roundabouts especially.the aoo8's are fantastic all the time.they are slightly more expensive but still possible to get a pair for £100 so reasonable given the lack of choice for 10's.if you are on dual carriageways as apposed to my rural daily drive i would say maybe go for the falkens they are gonna last longer and would do the job very nicely for your commute i would say.i only went for aoo8's when i got all my adjustable sus and bigger engine etc and started really chucking it about in the b roads! ta ta enigma

Well you've been partially informed wrong about the 32r's, they are actually classed as a Wet tyre and are pretty darn excellent on wet roads aswell as those damp morning roads, and of course provide stunning grip in the dry...

All I would say is make sure your suspension is set up correctly before using them, any track deviation and you'll soon burn them off.

Between a008's and falkens, I rate the falken higher for overall durability vs grip.... I find a008's are ok when new but when a few miles old the grip tails of very quickly especially in damp conditions, with the falken providing more consistent levels of grip through it's life...

I've got falkens on mine at the moment and have no problems with. Yes they do break away in the wet if you drive over enthusiastically but then you shouldn't do that anyway. Driven at normal road speeds in the wet I don't have problems with them at all. I can't compare them with yoko's as i have never used them. I've used camacs in the past with no problems with them at all.

I thought they stopped making the A008 ages ago? I am talking about 13's though, looks like 10 inch is still going.

I've got falkens, had them about 3 months and they seem to grip as well as my old 539s on 13s, great in the dry and just as good as anything else i've driven in the wet, good value too and from what i found there cheaper and easier to get hold of than the yokos.
