Hi, I have recently put the engine back into my 92 spi and the speedo isn't wokring. I took the cbale out of the back of the speedo and drove the car to check if the cable was spinning (I'm guessing thats how it works?!) but it wasn't. Do Ineed a new cable or have I fitted it wrong? If so what is the easiest way to fit a new one? Thanks mark.

Not an easy job, to make things easier, remove the radiator....

but suggest if it's not spinning, then it's not properly connected at the gearbox end, or you're forgotten to put the speed drive in the gearbox..

Remove the speedo cable and also the pinion, and see if you can feel the worm in the box...

I am putting my motor back in as well and feel I might be missing something on the speedo setup. Can someone post pix of both ends of the cable.

If the cable isnt spinning at the speedo gauge end, I would say you might just be missing something at the trans end. Where do you remove it from when you pulled the motor out? gauge or trans? Was the trans or speedo drive removed?

I have a feeling its just in wrong at the gearbox end but i won't know until i take it out and look. I took it off at the gearbox end and at the speedo end as I was refurbishing the car. I'll have a look next week n let you know what was wrong!

had a look last night. took the radiator and plumbing off and I could just about get my hand down to it! turned out it wasn't connected properly at the drive end so put it back in properly and its working fine now :() thanks for the help!
