I need to change the discs on my 1991 mayfair, the passenger side was easy, undid the castle nut and off it came, the driver side does not want to move, at all.

I am running out of time to get it ready for the riv run......HELP PLEASE!

Oh yes, I got the nut off no problem with some penetrating fluid and breaker bar, but its the disc that I cant shift.

Put the nut back on, but not fully wound up, and get the big hammer out. Or use a hub/gear puller. Oh, and try knocking the split cone washer too.

EDIT: wrong end of the stick

Have tried the big hammer approach too, belting the drive flange plate, as I have a spare so not the end of the world if I damage that.

Tried to move the split cone washer with a hammer and flat bladed tool  (not a screwdriver obviously)

Thats not budging, so I think the next step is a trip to halfords for a puller.

Just tap the disk with a hammer from behind, where the caliper usually sits. You are replacing them anyway?

Can't see a puller helping! Put the nut back on - and gently tap the CV joint inwards slightly - there really is very little holding it!

I have beaten the disc silly, its still not moving, and i have tapped the end of the driveshaft, not too hard though as i did not want to do any damage.

Shouldn't be too hard to improvise a puller, you've got the wheel studs and a wheel.

Have you got a photo?

I would expect you will still need to remove the cone washer first, even using a puller. Pulling the disc onto this washer (if the washer is slightly stuck) will just make it grip the CV harder.

You might be lucky, but I would be trying to remove it :)
