Hi,

Seems like a common problem from what I've been hearing, rust in the bottom of the battery box. Unfortunately my Mini has also the problem and I'm trying to fix it with a new battery box before the box collapses!

I've purchased a new box, but haven't a clue how to install it! Is the old one welded to the boot floor and what's the easiest solution for removing it?

Thanks

Rhys

yeah the old ones is welded in place, best way i have found for removing a battery box is grind ur way arount the top (leaving the welded lip bit on the boot floor) so the battery box drops to the floor (make sure battery is removed 1st lol) then carefully grind away the welded lip from the boot floor, making sure you dont grind to much through the boot floor! clean the area fully, back to bare metal around the opening, clean up the new battery box to clean metal where its to be welded, then get it welded in! sorted!

Is it not a case of drilling the spot welds out then replacing?
