Hey guys, what do you think of my new dash?

i managed to get the dash gauges, centre console and steering wheel for only £50 :dontgetit:

the only problem i have is that the slot for the radio is too big for modern CD plyaers

sorry about the poor picture it was taken at night :) - ill try and get another today.

That looks really nice. Especially the console, I've never seen one like that before.
I'd be tempted to plumb in the radio in the switch panel and have some big retro switches in the center console, that'd be great.

i've got a couple of those centre consoles and i have a modern cr radio fitted in it. i just cut the plastic (not the wood) larger to suit the radio.

The hole is too big not the cd player, going by the picture above its the top hole that you put the cd player (old school radio), plus i dont have any plastic.

have you got any pictures of yours? to compare, thanks allot.

There is a company somewhere that takes your old 50's/60's/70's retro radio and rebuilds the inside so you can have FM and Ipod input etc, while keeping it looking standard. I'll be getting that for the Viva eventually I think, but it would look the nuts in that, and means you could get the right size radio. I think it may be fairly expensive, but I would say worth it for the look.

If you're interested I'll try to find the company again

i just built myself a rookee style dash, but out of mdf and covered in check fabric! (i did want a rookee dash, but either they were de-laminating, the centre clocks were in the wrong position, or they were asking stupid monies!) heres my "interpritation"....

that does look smart. why not get an 8 track for the console and hide your cd player in one of the glove boxes - retro looks + modern sounds = win

thanks for the pictures. I reckon over time the plastic has been damaged / lost from my console, so when i put cd player in it falls through :/

cheers Oli and GW for your suggestions ill look into them
