I was.

Came to just over £1600 fully comp on a '97 Cooper.

Shop around, you'll find a good deal.

You can. But it'll be pricey.

I'm 18 (Just passed so no NCB or time driving) and i'm insured on my 1275 for £1300 / 1400 - can't quite remember.

It does help if you shop around, i even found the same details on different comparison websites came up with different prices for the same companies!

I'm with Eindsleigh if it helps ...

Cheapest quote i've found for a 1275 Mini 35 is aviva. Make sure it is factory standard with a 1275 in, not a 998 with a 1275 in as they class that as a modified car! Dan :-

My son got a quote from footman James for a 1275 mini fitted with hi lo's for £814 fully comp. Got that at the Bingley show this year. He has just turned 17.

Also try and go with a comany that gives you an agreed value. That way, if the worst was to happen, you'd get back what the cars worth and not just the book price :)

Footman James are the way forward. Im 20 with a 1275 and it costs me £430. My 998 last year cost me £360.
Only downside is limited mileage but you can raise it to up to 6000 miles for about £95 i think it cost me.
Oh, and loads of people believe you dont get no claims with classic car policies but really you do. - they put you're insurance down every year you don't claim and if you ever change insurer they will provide a letter as evidence to prove to the other insurer you have had however long no claims.

This.

I'm 20 with a 1256cc modified Viva, 1 accident against my name so no NCB, and I'm insured for £700. Will have to renew next month. It is roughly £100 to upgrade to 6k mile limit.

However, they confuse me as I swear I called up the year before for my mini and they said they wouldn't insure any one under 21/25? Maybe they changed their policy

I had a mate who was 17, and he just phoned up Footmans James for a quote on a standard mini cooper, think it was 1996? And they quoted him £2500! :)

Why is it that us mini owners find it hard to insure a little 1275, that is less likely to be raced about and show of, whereas if you get a 1.6 golf, vts etc that is more likely to get raced and used as a boy racer car you find it more easier to get insured

That really does stump me that one does.

I am 17, 1275 Cooper SPi, TPFT £675 with Footman James. I think the Mini has to be pre '95 to be eligible for classic insurance? (mines '94 and has no problems)
