Ht Lead Firing Order

hi, ive got a 92 spi cooper, ive completely forgotten the correct order of the ht leads from the dizzy cap to the plugs ??

Firing order is 1-3-4-2, 1 being nearest the thermostat.

so,

3-1
4-2 on the dizzy (it rotates anti clockwise)

cheers for your help mate, is the order of 1342 on the plugs as you look at it from left to right??

No, convention is to number cylinders 1,2,3,4 from the front of the engine, which in the transverse engined Mini is where the fanbelt is. After the plug nearest the fanbelt (1) fires the next one to fire is 2 places to the left (3)

The rotor arm turns anticlockwise in the dizzy so you attach the leads in the firing order counting anticlockwise. No1 should usually be the top right post on the dizzy cap:


4-3-2-1 is the sparkplugs as you look under the bonnet

4-2 is the dizzy, connect the same numbers to one another with the leads.
