I want to get the windows tinted on our car and have seen THIS KIT from ebay. Do you think it is a good idea or should I get them professionally done?
Also I want a strip at the top of the front window to match the colour of the car, will this be illegal if it isn't see through or does it have to be transparent (30% tint etc)??

Its pretty hard to do right, but could always give it a go with your kit and if it doesnt work get it professionally done?!

I tried a few times myself and failed a few years back and ended biting the bullet and paying for them to be done profesionally, the side windows aren't too bad, it's the curvature of the rear screen that's tricky, I ended up with loads of creases round the edge of the glass.

Also, with the professional films, they tend to be better quality, the stuff I had was heat reflective and really did make a difference in the summer.

As for the strip on the windscreen, it must not cover any of the sweep area of the wipers.

Ok, so can anyone recommend a really good professional tinter in the Kent area? And any idea of how much it would cost for all the side and rear windows to be done??

im thinking of tinting mine, was wondering, if i get a polycarb rear window, and tint it before i fit it (when its still flat) then fit it, will this illiminate the problem of fitting it to the curve, or will it peel off again?

And the potential majour floor in the plan, do polycarb windows actually come 'flat' ?

Mind you - They're flat, so it's not too bad - I wouldn't attempt curved windows!

I wouldent use that ebay kit as they say it fits a 59-88 car. All the windows are different on a 59 car to an 88 car

Also to the guy on about tinting poly carb windows... dont bother you can just order poly carb that is already tinted.

Oh and finally there are places that will actually make you tinted glass to order (i.e. no film) but it is expensive.
