Gents, trying to get some information on the ABS Motorsport fiberglass body. http://www.absmotors...-delux-kit.html Being in the states I dont have access to other minis and parts and my bdy on my 67 is pretty wore out. I started looking into these bodies but there are no reviews and from looking through other posts here not much info either.

I don't know any one who has one on the road. However, I have a Sabre Sprint which was the original car that the moulds for the floor and structure came from.

So if it's made to the same quality it's a good shell. It dosen't feel quite like a mini to drive, you know it's not steel, but it doesn't rust.

Also the Sabre sprint was designed for a beam and rear coilovers, not a full rear subframe. Worth checking that sufficient strength etc is there for the rear subframe if you plan to use one.

Legally it will need an IVA so be careful. There was a thread on here in the Mini chat section about IVAs and GRP shells and it looked like a lot of paperwork!

What are IVAs and GRP shells, I'm in the states so I may or may not have to do this.

as for IVA's, they are British only i think (maybe european too not sure)
so doubt are relevant to America although you may have something similar

GRP are another company that make fully fiber glass mini shells.

What are you on about? read the big pink message.

GRP = Gless Reinforced Plastic

There are a number of other GRP shells made in GRP, Minus and Pimlico spring to mind, there are others.

IVA is UK only.

Sorry mate, didnt notice you are in the states! In the UK there is a test called an Individual Vehicle Approval test which vehicles such as kit cars have to be put through. It also incorporates vehicles which have been modified in certain ways (of which one way is the modification of a monocoque shell). As was said above, GRP is glass reinforced plastic or fibreglass.
I have seen a stand at shows with these shells on them, they look good quality molding but until you drive one its impossible to be sure how stiff they are.

Hi there. Here's some sites to look at. The Minus register seems to have most of the existing cars on it. Minus-cars. will make you one to order. check out the new Pick-up .Pimlico are no longer in business,and second hand ones are like hens teeth. We have other GRP. models. .ie. Midus. / Cox GTM. though the newer models are based on Mini Metro stuff. / Mini Marcos. if you go to 'Google Images' you will get an Idea what they look like. If it's not being built here, I can't see any of our laws being relevant.So your own country/state tests would apply.Have you ever seen this sight. 'Kimini' Very extreem,so at least someone has had a go at it already.

Cox GTM is not a GRP shell, steel chassis with GRP panels. There's actually lots of GRP monocoque cars that have been produced over the years, but not many that resemble the mini.
