Is Becoming A Trader On Tmf A Good Idea?

If anyone wants advice I'm always around to help anyone on a budget. Welding, painting and general servicing along with engine mods and preparation for motorsports not a problem.

I've been on tmf for a few years now, and set up a mini specialist business last november. Since becoming a 'trader' I feel that I've lost the mini link as a hobby and I'm now considered to be in the mini spot light just to make money...I might be wrong but being relegated to the 'traders' section doesnt mean that I wont help those on a tight budget.

Why do you feel that you're now considered to be in the mini spot light just to make money? Who has said what?
Why do you feel like you're relegated to the Traders' section? All the trader status means is that you can start topics in that section where as unregistered members cannot, you can still use the rest of the forum exactly the same as a member. The traders section was to help genuine members on here with a business to have a dedicated section where other members could find them easily instead of having to look at various different sections; it also gives a bit of a safety net to people buying from them.
I'm quite interested on the feedback as the traders section is fairly new.
Surely if you're trying to say you're willing to help someone on a budget you can put this in your thread if you're worried it's not clear?

think as your trader status as a badge of honour

i would feel the advice from a trader is more trust worthy than the advice from a 14 year old that learn about minis for a mate down the pub
think as your trader status as a badge of honour
Ha Ha How many 14 year olds do you know who spend there time down at the pub.
Altho this is a true statement id trust a traders advice alot more

Being a trader will have bugger all effect on the buisness, I neither gained nor lost inquires as a direct result.
If you're struggling to attact buisness then you need to get some project threads up, show the forum what you can do and the quality of your work speak for itself.
Personally, I have to turn down work on a daily basis as I simply don't have the time!!

Having said that it is a very good idea and it seems to be working well. Maybe do something a bit less 'in your face' with the TRADER under the username

I hear what your saying, although the benefits outweigh the bad side of it (which is v. small)

A Trader
But in no way does it prevent me from giving my opinion as a mini owner... and if there is an opportunity for me to 'market my wares' then to some extent that approach has been sanctioned.
