does anyone know if the cooper ECU's are any different to the non cooper ECU's. ive a 1992 spi cooper that just doesnt feel as "spritely" since ive had some work done on it after it got broken into. we changed the ecu for a different one as we "broke" the map sensor plastic oobery that goes into the ecu. just thinking that this may be causing it to not be as fast. its a twin plug jobby with a 5 digit ecu code. my original was a 5 digit too.....
Cheers

Cooper and non Cooper ecus are different. Think the Cooper provides a bit more fuel enrichment under certain circumstances and is mapped for the slightly higher compression of the cooper lump.

any way of telling apart from the odd few being stamped standard and high performance?
Hi,
This should help;
http://www.somerford...x...=page&id=76
I have a Japanese Cooper and it had the infamous "battery drain" issue due to the ECU keeping the the main relay active all the time. I had the MNE101070 ECU which is single connector and does not use the immobilizer. I replaced it with a remanufactured MNE101170 from ATP (http://www.atpelectr....uk/product.htm) with the immobilizer function disabled. Not only it fixed the original problem, the car feels a lot more responsive.

If you have your old ecu just crack it open and swap the plastic hose connectors over. Pretty sure you can.
