Model: Mini City 1989

Did a search but couldnt find anything.

My clutch is stiff, but only right at the top of its travel. I have no problem selecting gears and no issues like that.

Its just that pressing the clutch is stiff right at the top. ALmost like applying pressure to an egg.

Nothing...Nothing...Nothing...then crack, the clutch is down. Ha i hope that makes sense i cant think of another way to describe it.

But then sometimes there is no stiffness at all and the clutch travel is silcky smooth and is a pleasure to use :-

Whats going on? Im confusssed!

Many thanks in advance...

...Alex...

On the clutch housing the arm that the slave cylinder pushes against, apply plenty of lube to all the pivot points, especially were it pivots on the casing.

I just squirt a bit of engine oil on it, works a treat.

I'm having the exact same problem on my MPI. Is the place to apply lube to easy to get to as I don't have a garage. Is it in the engine bay?

Thanks

Can you see the big nuts on the left of the bell housing?? just give that lot a good soaking with oil while someone is opperating the clutch pedal and all should be well. if you ever need to take this apart make sure to use plenty of copper slip on the rod as you put it back together.
