Welcome to the forum

Leave the rollerskate look to the boy racers. Most Minifans will insist that small is beautiful where Mini wheels are concerned. Anything wider than 5-6 inches makes them handle worse.175/50/13 is the largest commonly used tyre anything much bigger won't fit on the back and would mess up the gearing to make it very s-l-o-w.

I recommend 6x12's. Fairly easy to fit, same diameter as most standard Minis and still looks sporty.

Interesting. What kind of differnec in handling do the wider wheels make? Cooper Sport has 6" rims and only feels a touch sloppier than my old mayfair in the bends, but I've always liked the look of wider wheels under the sportspack arches. Am I creating a problem if i go for 7" wheels?
Long way off being able to afford new alloys, but would rather know first if they're going to mess up the handling.

Well from personal experience 13x7's handle better than 12x5.5's - especially if combined with coil-overs. Each to there own though.

Anyway, I've got 15's to go on the vtec Mini :dontgetit: It's going to take a lot of work to achieve it, but, challenges make things interesting...

Didn't Mini Trailers once fit the 15" minilight-esque wheels usually found on a Rover 200 to a Mini once? I think they used a low profile tyre but they looked a bit odd

Wider wheels will only handle worse if you dont add negative camber into the equation. Excellent handling is entirely possible with 13 x7's for example, provided you want to spend the money on the right suspension components and getting the suspension set up properly.

If your keeping the suspension standard, Id stick by ethels advice.

It's not so much the width as the increased offset, there's a limit to how much you can increase the width inwards. Big wheels also tend to be heavier which won't help either. Tweaking the camber can improve things, but it's not addressing the issue directly so is a compromise.

I have to say, the wheels I have at the moment (13x7 Revolutions) are extremely heavy in comparison the 10x6 Wellers that i've just bought and am fitting soon!! It should be a no brainer really, but there is a huge difference in weight.

I had 7x13s on my car, they do look nice, but the car tracked every grove in the road, I dropped to 6x12s, the car was a lot faster, the handling was improved massively.

A lot faster ?

Due to what exactly?, The rolling radius in simular as is the rolling resistance?
