Hi, jumped into the car this evening and, when I turned the ignition on, the windscreen wipers started going. They will not stop unless you turn the ignition off. And before ayone asks the lever is in the right position! Any suggestions about the best place to start? Thanks.

Wiper park switch, the internals fall to pieces a new one costs about a tenner.

Thanks, I'm new to minis. Is the park switch on the back of the wiper motor?

yes, the small white plastic block where the wiring plug plugs into. They're notorious for breaking down over the years.

Now your problem is resolved, mine started making a horrendous squeak on the way back from Brighton, torrential rain so they were on full whack and towards the end of the poor weather (luckily) they started squeaking. Sounded as if the rubber was squeaking on the glass but it isn't that.
Could be the motor?

Could be that the wiper rack/motor assembly has run dry with age and just needs stripping and re-greasing.

Sweet, doesn't sound too hard a job, do that over the weekend as well as stopping my exhaust from blowing (it fell off on the way to Brighton)
