going to replace my bootlid soon, and i want to get rid of the bulky numberplate light, and dont really want one of the early numberplate lights either

something very minimal is what im after, thinking along the lines of leds in the numberplate fixings itself. Crude drawing on paint of the sort of thing im after if anybody knows of anything?

not quite like that, but same idea, but instead of directional light, a fan of light around the fixing, because the coppers are only gonna winge that they only illuminate part of it

Could you not add a second hole to the other side of those ebay ones, so they throw light left and right?

just thought of a real snazzy alternative.

if an electroluminescent panel could be found which was the right size for a number plate then get the lettering put on it, then you could dispence with number plate lights at all as the plate itself would glow :D, now hows that for a snazzy idea

random electrolumenecent site

... this is kinda what i'd like done..

using the same sorta idea.. i was gonna put 4 or 5 of those bolts above the rear plate and get rid of the one thas there.. so they shone down on it...

Lester

I think the idea is you place them at the verry edge off the number plate both directing light towards the midle.

This will require new holes drilling throu both plate and boot lid and if your picky a new plate as well if you dont like the idea of two holes being in the middel where the old fixings were, or you could just leave the old colored fixing bolts in as well.

How about a TVR style backlit number plate?

http://www.craigsplates.com/flash-reg

Basically, you get the mounting with built in lights, and number plates can be light from behind. Means you don't have to have the chav style led bolts.

So how do you actually buy them, and do they come with the backlight or is that seperate?
