Model:Mpi Cooper
Year: 1997
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

Hi all

I refer to my earlier post

http://www.theminifo...x...=152812&hl=

I was having some issues with the car when driving I was getting a lot of white smoke.

Upshot was the Brake master was leaking into the servo > into the inlet manifold ;)

I have replaced the brake master, cleaned out the servo, replaced new oil, oil filter, ran engine flush throu to clean out the oil and engine, installed a new head gasket and went as far last night as to change back to the standard rover head.

Last night to stipped the stage 3 head off and returned the original rover head, as I thought the valve stem seals were perished.

On the drive home today I was still getting white smoke, occours a lot when cornering. I also can smell a burning of oil when this happens. To top this off I am going throu a lot of oil :D

I am thinnking Piston Rings ???

White smoke indicates steam, could be head gasket failed between water gallery and cylinder, also if your using a lot of oil do you know what the condition of the valve guides and oil seals are like? Failing that its more than likely piston rings, best to do a compression test first to see.

I think compression test is my next thing

I am not getting any major water loss but getting oil loss so think its pistons
