I've just bought a '79 850 super, the seats in it aren't the originals and I'm trying to find out what should have been fitted.

Whilst digging around I discovered that I've accidentally bought a rare car!! They only made the super for 1 year(unless someone tells me different). From what I've found out the spec should be the same as the Mini 1000(as the 850 super is supposed to be the same spec)

So what seats should be fitted?

I've found pictures of cars with

Vinyl
Houndstooth
Deck chair trim

The car is Sandglow, and is pictured below.



The next question is what colour should the trim be?

Without wishing to pre-empt replies, my current guess is "Deckchair trim in Brown"

Has anyone else got any ideas?

I had one a while ago & that had light brown vinyl seats/trim. The car was blue though.

Its all a bit confusing!!

In the Haynes Mini Restoration Manual, I think there's a list of all production Minis, and original specs such as interior etc. I'll dig it out and have a look for ya.

Edit: According to the manual, it says they should be "Sorrel (striped)" with "black carpets/mats", "Sorrel liners" and black door seals. Hope this is some help Although I'm afraid I have no idea what Sorrel is, but deckchair sounds pretty similar.
