Hi everyone

i'm slowly stopping all the oil and water leaks etc on my spi 1996 mini ( which is geat fun) but apart from the gear selector oil leak i have found another one which comes from where the speedo cable goes into the back of the engine.I was wondering if it is easy to remove the cable and gasket or plate from under the car and replace with the right parts.I've asked this as someone told me that i might have to remove the engine to stop this oil leak.
Can anyone advise me on what to do and what sort of parts would i need to stop this leak ( fed up with emptying the drip tray every other day )

cheers

ive done this job several times with the engine still fitted, working from under the car remove the screw holding the clamp plate on the speedo drive housing, lift the threaded part off the housing, clean up both faces fit new gasket with plenty of sealent on either side and refit. it is tight to get you hand in and does require patience, i even got cramp doin this once and thought i'd never get my hand out again.lol.
