Model: City
Year: 1992

Cleverly the previous owner snapped the door key in the door on the driver side, luckily it unlocked before snapping so I can still get into the car. But I’m just wondering how to get the lock off to replace it. I’m in a similar situation with the fuel filler cap and now can’t get this off either. :D

I’m not actually using the car on the road at the moment as I’m not 17 yet but I would like to get the lock situation sorted so I can actually fill it up when the time comes and lock it when I’m out and about.

All I would like to know is how to get the fuel cap off and door locks due to snapped keys.

Thanks in advance

Might end in tears, but could put some superglue on the other end of the key or something else small enough to get in there and try and re attach it enough to pull it out? If it's snapped well into the barrel then it'll probably just glue everything together so not so much of a good idea but if it's flush or sticking out a little could well be a good last resort attempt.

I have two spare keys and neither seem to fit the passenger door or boot so Im unsure what these are for. Im might give the tweezers a go to see if I can get it out anyway.

Sorry I didn't make this very clear but I don't actually have the key for the fuel cap so at the moment its just a fuel cap with nothing lodged in it, do i drill into it or is there another easier way to pick at the lock?

Thanks for the replies though

when I worked at HSS customers use to snap keys all the time in the big 125cfm compressors and big generators, we used to stanley knife blades to ease them out...worked everytime....give it a try

Thanks Dave, the stanley knife worked and it turned out the fuel cap key had been used to try and lock the doors so Im now on the hunt for either a new key or fuel cap.

Thanks everyone for the replies
