Hi, my 1991 Cooper carb Engine has decided to die on me. Is it possible to drop a Metro GTA engine straight in? And what sort of bhp is it? And last but not least, is it an Mpi, or Spi? Thanks for your time, G

Rover Metro engines wont fit unless you fit a modified subframe and if you have a roundnose extend the front. They are an MPi

Austin Metro engines will fit however.

Sounds like repairing your engine is going to be a lot less hassel and more cost effective. May also be an opportunity to do some tuning on it. When you say it "died" what exactly do you mean?
