I think I read first Mini auto had received a reward because it was well engineered. The first Mini Automatics were 850cc and were introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1965, total cost with the AP Auto transmission option was £560 for the standard model or £606 for the Deluxe, very few autos actually reached the showrooms before 1966 as it took almost a year to reach proper production, so the Mk1 Auto is a very rare car now as the Mk2 Auto was introduced in October 1967.
