i was wondering if you could mate a 16v k series cylinder head on an a series block. i know it would need some mods and i am pretty sure that the 1.4 would not fit as the engine bore size is 74mm. but i think the 1.1 would fit with some work. even though it is for a 1.1 i think it could possably provide a good performance boost as it would have 16 valves instead of 8. if not a k series what other heads might fit ( not kad) . I am aware that some one on here put a certian bike head on his block but i wouldnt want to rip him off :D

been thinking about it for a while and i know some people will say just put a vtech or k series in, but i would rather keep the aseries block if i can.

Any help and guidence would be great.

Apparently, its impossible to fit the K seires head on the A seires. Many people have tried andfailed I think. The bike conversion seems a very good one to me but im not sure about the stud arrangement.

Been looking at the Nissan Micra 1.0 and 1.3 heads. With a bore of 71mm and bore spacing very close to that of the A series it may well be possible. Difficulties with this and the BMW head, is that they are both a wet chain drive system, with the Nissan being more difficult as the cams are so close together, trying to get Timing belt sprockets that would fit is proving very difficult.

Awaiting delivery of a head gasket to see how close it realy is. Would be much better than the BMW head as it is naturaly designed for a horizontal instalation rather than the BMWs vertical instalation, which again provides its own complications.

Head conversions like this involve a great deal of engineering and re engineering to make it work and judging by the work I have done on mine, is not for the engineering numb. No offence intended but some people just don't know one end of a spanner from the other, yet ask if it is possible to fit a V8 in a mini on a skinflint budget :nugget: it won't happen, not that its not impossible.

I am doing the K1100 16v head with a turbo and EFI. We will be doing the complete build story in the new mag hopefully, so look out for that. I may pick up a micra head and take a look. A few people have suggested that now.

Hi, that would be the new mini mag with no BMW MINI's in it, nothing at all to do with existing mags, all new! We will be getting the name out there as soon as we have protected it from the competition...You must have missed the thread, given below! To be written by mini nut for mini nuts.

http://www.theminifo...ST&f=22&t=14993

Going to be exclusivly tech and resto, with no patronising artilces on how to fit a seat belt, (3 bolts for goodness sake!), or bonnet pins....(!), real hardcore engine builds, mapped ignition installs, lots of exoteric stuff, miglia secrets etc etc. Totally different from existing magazines who cover the scene rather than how to build your performance mini.

Look out for an announcement on all the forums! Interested in your project by the way. PM and tell me more! Cheers

Peter
