It will just be a big capacitor. Tap the red wire off the supply, before the interior light bulb. It has a piggy back spade so you can unplug a connector, attach the gadget, and plug the original wire back on. The black is an earth, find a screw to trap it under. It'd be easiest to attach at the fuse box, but beware you don't give the horn a delay as well.

DON'T

I realised after I logged off that what I suggested won't work

It will need to be at the bulb end, I overlooked that it won't be able to discharge when the door switch breaks the circuit!

You need to connect the black wire to the earth side of the bulb.

Can this unit be wired so that the delay is ended as soon as the ignition is turned on?

It might be better to get a timer relay off another car. You could rig it up to control a standard relay and do that, I dare say.

Can this unit be wired so that the delay is ended as soon as the ignition is turned on?

I reckon so, the capacitor will behave like a battery.

so the piggy back spade goes to the live of the bulb and the other goes to the earth of the bulb??

My understanding of the delay units (I'm still waiting to fit mine) it is connected from the earth cable so the same wire which goes to your door switch connect the box to that and to the body work if that makes sence?

It can't just be a capacitor, or it would be very large indeed, and horrensdousy expensive. They are usually some kind of electronic timer, but I don't know about that particular model.
