is it possible to convert my winding door windows to the old sliding type? if so how is it done and what parts will i need.

Yes. I did it with some street fighter doors from the minidoorcompany.
It basically involves taking the winder out and capping off the top of the door where the glass wind through; that makes a flat surface for a sliding setup to sit on top off.
It needs to be done very well though and be precise so the new sliding glass fits in and is snug so theres no leaks.
Heres what the streetfighter doors look like:


and heres the polycarb windows i've got for them:

Alot to be honest. The doors i bought second hand but unused for £350 - Brand new they're about £450 I think. The windows were another £100 or so IIRC.
Alot of money but IMO well worth it. Looks better, alu skins and galvanised door bottoms will never rust and around a 30kg weight saving.

hellfire thats expensive, love the doors and stuff but i cant be spending that kind of money. think ill have to give this a miss.

Mine for the project mayfair (link in the bottom of my sig) cost me no more than about £90, but then i also chose to use secondhand parts and make up my own windows from 4mm polycarb.

you could modify your current doors for a lot less money.
