Rattling Brake Pads

While the brakes are applied the noise stops, and lying under the front of the car the pads can also be rattled by hand in the calipers.
The car is fitted with Mini Sport alloy 4 pot 7.9" Non Vented front disks. and uses split pins but no form of anti rattle shims, the whole kit was bought secondhand but nearly new from a friend.
As the pads are standard metro with the back corners ground off I thought that the metro pad fitting kit would solve the problem, unfortunately the non vented width is no longer available from mini spares, however the vented kit is, but would be too wide.
It a relief to find it is nothing more serious but any thoughts are welcome as I will need to quieten them down somehow.

when i got my greenstuff pads i had some sort of anti rattle/squeel black sheet stuff that came with it, didnt inspect it because there wasnt room for it, but put some of that between the calipers and pads?
Yes maybe that would help.
I was thinking copperslip may help but there is quite a lot of play in the pads and the amount needed would probably guarentee to get it on the disks.
Looking to nip to the local motorfactors at lunch to see if they have anything listed in the book, I have a brand new set of 8.4" springs but they are totally different

Otherwise I have a set of new pads which may be a tighter fit.

Could be sticking pistons. the piston grips the seal and moves it slightly and when you release the pedal it pulls the piston away from the pad leaving room for it to rattle, i would rebuild the calipers.
No the pistons are all free, it is the up and down movement that is the problem.
Been to a local motorfactor this lunch time and ordered a fitting kit for a non vented metro hopefully the brake fitting kit is the right one and will quieten it down.

I managed to get hold of some anti rattle clips for a set of metro 4 pots to match the pads used, unfortunately they only listed one set which seem to be for vented disks.
With nothing to loose I trimmed them down to fit the mini sport calipers.
Result. Completely fixed, the annoying rattling noise has gone.
If anybody has any idea how to get hold of the non vented springs they would be ideal but for now it is another job ticked off.
