Out for a little run last night all going well till a couple of coughs and then dead got the dreaded tow home (first time the other half had done this she's well chuffed with a new skill she's learnt)
Checking things out tonight has revealed no sparks been produced, tried a few things changed coil, cap and rotor checked timing and LT side for power to coil all ok. Just wondering is there any way of telling if the module has failed, it has been on the car for about 10 months and done about 300 miles.
It's got me stumped at the moment and Bristol Mini Day on Sunday

The ignitor uses a 12v non ballast feed, have you checked make sure the red wire is still getting a 12v feed with ignition on ??

Is it difficult to put the points and condenser back in?

The coil has 12v to the +ve
And can't put the points back in as I dont have any or the back plates, the distributor was new from aldon with the ignitor fitted when the engine was built as I had to go A+, all my other distributors are for older A blocks.

You say the coil as 12v going to it..I'll ask the daft questions cause you never know.
Is the coil a 12v coil ?? are you sure its not a ballasted coil.

No it's a non ballast 12V Lucas coil 3ohm. The reason I am asking as the set up has been fine for the last 10 months then just stopped producing sparks on Wednesday.
I have checked all cables/connectors for breaks and cleaned contacts and earths just wondering if there is a quick simple way to test the ignitor unit?

A quick way of testing the unit would be to disconnect the black wire off the coil
Remove a sparkplug , then plug the lead back onto it and rest it on the block so you can see if it sparks.
Now connect a length of wire to the negative on the coil, ignition switched on, now the other end of the wire..brush it against a good earth point eg the engine. you should get a spark. With the wire you are basically trying to immitate the points so just keep touching the wire onto the block
If you get a spark then the problems down at the dizzy end.
300 miles is pretty rubbish though my ignitor must have covered 25000 - 30000 miles

Thanks for all the help Irostoke, in the end turned out to be the coil after lots of testing and fiddling my new spare coil did'nt work but a really old one (circa about 28 years old and well used on a previous rally mini) worked a treat.
Thnaks for everyones help again
