I noticed that there was a huge knock under acceleration whilst driving so opened bonet and saw excessive play in the engine....
The ultimate engine steady I fitted when I put a 1275 block in has snapped on the upright flange where it meets the cars bulkhead....

Is this steady a warranty part- I bought from Minispares?
Also why did this happen and can I improve the steadyness elsewhere?
Also with the engine swinging would it make it likely the exhaust pipe somehow contributed to a short circuit I got from the reversing switch?

Many thanks

Karl

Nope- this 1 snapped on me: Minispares MSSK1300 - ENGINE STABILIZER 1300cc.PRE92

I need to repair this so ordering the following- 1989 mini city E with 1275cc engine fitted into it.

CRC8664-MASTER CYLINDER BASE PLATE LATE TYPE-My one is currently rusted & doesnt have the engine steady in place which probably caused failure of the ultimate engine steady.

NAM9197 - MASTER CYLINDER GASKET EARLY TYPE

MSSK1300 - ENGINE STABILIZER 1300cc.PRE92 WITHOUT SANDWI...

GUG705558GM - GASKET FOR THERMOSTAT LATEST GENUINE TYPE

I am missing the steady that goes from the master cylinder base plate to the side of theblock...which 1 do I order from minispares? (I have a breather from the clutch housing.

Many thanks

Karl

I have just only realised that I have:

gear box steady
ultimate engine steady fitted.

I am missing the steady that goes from the master cylinder mount plate to the side of the block above the clutch and thus trying to find all the relevant parts to add this missing steady in along with the ultimate engine steady replacement

just check that the original studs have not been sheared in the block before you but the bits you need. there is a repair kit out there if they have snapped so not the end of the world.

on the side of the block where it should go I can see the holes and they look clean with no broken studs...
