Who are you to stipulate what someone can do or cant do???? Its this guys Mini so he can do what he likes, people like you annoy me...My mini has different things done to it taken from different models/years/editions of all minis simply because thats what I like. My mini is a 1995 but has a mk1 grill and mustache, it has old austin cooper s badges, a big reversing boot light on a mk1 boot lid, it has a mini 40 interior, mk2 rear lights etc etc.....I have these because over all the years on all the models these are my favourite things, not because its a mk1/mk2, austin cooper s....I like it and thats all that matters, if you dont then tough, but no one on here can tell anybody what to do, the guy is just asking advice on how to fit something that he would really like to put on his car.Do you have a Mk 1... no, then dont make look like one

Mk 2's are a straight swap if that's an easier route and if you still want a reverse light, my tip would be a period type one to complete the look you are after.
As others have said, it's your car do with it what you like and most of all, enjoy!!

Make it look however you want,
I say you should put a spoiler on the back to, maybe some fat rims, then some fake external hinges, just because you can.

anyway its a simple process of lining them up straight then welding them on, after that its angle grinding flush as possible, refining the surfaces with a power file then smoothing sanding and priming its very simple welding. and deffinatly worth it because you can upset people who still dont quite understand minis are what you make of them thats the joy.
i had some cooper stickers on my city when i got it but its not worthy so i took them off, i understand in a way, but if i started fitting 1960s cooper engine parts then there is no reason why my car would not a relative of a cooper.
its like this jhon cooper for example back in the day produced aftermarket parts so why cant i fit them. i treat them like sparrco or anything else

Better not look at my 89 Mayfair then, what with the mk1 grill, mk1 door hinges (not fakes), sliding windows, mk1 boot, etc…. just as soon as I find a decent set of mk1 rear lights I’ll ditch the mk2 units weld in the plates and swap them over.
