I got a 1991 mini mayfair that came with some nice speakers but no radio, :(

trying to fit a radio but the block with all the wires in it had been cut.

Does anyone know which wires are which in the mini.
Ive worked out most on the radio except the orange and blue wires but dont think they're important (I hope)

im guessing the black one is the earth, but thats the extent of my knowledge of wires in the car.

Also since this is my first post, aint he pretty

Hi reece, nice ride!

When you say all the wires have been cut out, what is actually left?

If its got aftermarket speakers there should be a pair of wires from each speaker back to the dash.
There should also be a loom of 10 or so coloured wires to connect to the head unit, there may also be a seperate power cable and an antenna.

Depending whats left will tell you what you may need. Plus depending on what head unit you put in you may need an adapter.

on mine. i had 8 wires for all four speakers (although i only have 2) i also had black, orange, red.
black - earth
red - 12v power supply.
orange - permanent 12v (this one is on all the time like a clock would be, it keeps the memory for this like time, saved radio stations etc.

i would check these first with a multimeter before doing any permanent connections. or if you have a bulb lying about, touch the black/red wires on it and light it up, then black/orange. i assume they are connected at the other end and some idiot just cut them to take the radio out rather than do it properly.

why has it got about 17 power supplies - what kind of radio is it???
how do you know aswell, did you test them to see if it had power coming out of it.
and have you connecting them all up, surely a radio only needs about 2/3

all the power supplies are in the car, radio only has 2.
i tested them with one of them box things with the red and black wires that test for voltage.

i really want to plug loads of things in now. im jus gonna end up with lights everywhere
