Blue Smoke!

hi. i have a 1985 mini. 998cc. every time i use it blue smoke comes out the exhaust. if i go down hill with no throttle at te bottom when throttle is needed then a big puff of blue smoke comes out the exhaust and if im going up hill an change down gear and put my foot down then smoke comes out until i change gear back up can anyone help? :D

by the sounds of it the head requires some work on the valve stem seals and possibly valve guides

it could be a lot of things

Breather mesh rotted out allowing oil to flow into carb into engine
valve stem oil seals
valve guides
head gasket broke between oil way and cylinder

ones can could think of?

could be the piston rings. do a compression test. or as stevee sugests valve stem oil seals. but if its a lot of smoke???? most likley Rings.

Rings tend to be worse under full throttle; valves on start up and part throttle.

This is a classic test for valve stem oil seals, you go down a hill with little to no throttle, then when you put your foot down on the other side if you get a puff of smoke then your valves or seals need work doing to them.
