Hi sry I may be asking this in the wrong section, but here we go:

I have a 1972 clubman mini, which was quite badly damaged in a car crash, and i also have a 1988 mini mayfair, and i have been wondering can i use my mayfair, but transfer all my reg plates, vin plates, etc over to the mayfair from the 1972 clubman.

If so how do i go about this, any help will be appriciated.

Thankyou

If the original clubman shell is beyond repair the only way to keep the original age related plate (and tax exemption) is to replace the shell with a brand new shell of similar specification to the original.
I'm afraid you just can't go around swapping vehicle identities.

Absolutely not! The Reg Number MUST stay with the body shell - only legit way is with a NEW Heritage shell. However - you can of course use sections of your 'good' shell to repair the damage to the earlier shell - if you get my drift...........

whilst not adverse to swapping bits and bobs if I'm keeping the vehicle, always think its a bit dodgy if you come to sell it.

The other concern is if and its a big if you ever get involved in a major accident then the vehicle will be torn to bits, the insurance will pretend you don't exist.
End of day is it worth the chance.
