Has anyone come across any guides/how to's etc for removing an engine and ancilliaries from a mini? Need to strip down to the shell ahead of having it refurbed and haven't tried this before. Just after an idea of the order in which to disconnect etc.
Cheers,
Ian

I bought it on CD (PDFs) on eBay here: 250646861523. It's very cheap.

I am looking for Rover Mini Repair Manual AKM 7169 and cannot find it anywhere.
Anyone could share it or any clue to here to find it.
Thanks,
Pedro

Take some insulation tape and a permanent marker. Label all the wires, pipes and parts that you will remove. Then follow a normal haynes manual. This works fine if you are going to put the same engine back in.
I have done this for every engine swap I have ever done and it saves loads of time afterwards instead of having to trawl through wiring diagrams. Useful when you don't have one too.

I am not sure why MiniSpares can be cheaper than British Motor Heritage, the makers of the DVD. You just need to be careful it's not the earlier CD version would does not run on Windows 7.

I bought this one last year and it is the factory repair manual AKM7169ENG. Even though it shipped from Jacksonville, Florida, the seller is based in the UK. I also have the Heritage manuals and the difference is this one does not include the extras like the parts fiche but all the shop repair sections are there. The quality of the conversion to PDF seems better than on the Heritage's. There is no encryption so it works with any OS. I assume it is a legal copy, otherwise Ebay is supposed to remove the listing.

I think the reason why the PDF quality is better is because it is young enough to have been created in desk top publishing and easily converted. The earlier manuals are scanned from printed pages.
The supplement tells you how to remove and replace the engine of an MPi but not how to take it apart.
All the information about the workings of the engine, gearbox and running gear generally is in the earlier manual AKM 7169.
There are a few CDs on eBay with manuals including AKM 7169 such as item 330653860762. I am not sure how legal they are.

Because of that I feel a little bit like "Indiana Jones" figuring out what to remove of the aircon so that I can remove the engine. I am slow anyway, it is my retirement hobby.
As far as the quality of the PDF's, here are some samples:

I do not have the aircon information either. There is a diagram in the Repair Operation Times manual.
Air conditioning was for the Japanese market. There was not enough room left for the MPi configuration so all late Japanese exports continued to be SPi.

I see that the Heritage CD is a "pain in the a**" and I use Mac Os.
Unfortunately my country does not support paypal so cannot shop ebay items (big frustration)
By the way I own a 1996 Japanese SPI.
Thanks for the info guys.
