Right in an earlier thread i posted some pictures of a problem and shifty commented on my "Jig" saying there was not enough support there and that the shell may be twisted/distorted. I went out, got some new box metal moved the jig and removed the old one so i could fit the doors and see if the shell has been distorted at all.

So i have some pictures here of the doors just sitting in the aperture they have no hinges so they are not properly but i was wondering if any of the pros on here could give me the heads up and see if i really do have a problem.

Very difficult to tell from the pictures, but all I can say is that doors rarely fit neatly without a bit of fettling to the hinge position, adding spacers, even a bit of bending is sometimes required.. I'd get a door fitted on the hinges, and then see what it's like. From the pictures it looks fine. What work did you do to necessitate bracing?

I would say not as i am rebuilding my mini and had this problem door alinement is a night mare trust me takes alot of fiddling around. anyway 1st main aim i did was to get the apanel and door gap right same all the way up i used shims to adjust the door then i have to get the door pushed up more undo the 4 bolts then try push the door up then tighten if that doesnt work i filed some slots for the bolts so the door sat write then i was still unhappy so i got someone to weld a strip of metal on the side of the door to close the gap up to how it should be have a look at my tread toward the middle page i think

good luck patients is the key :proud:

Well at the moment i am replacing the entire floor, sills, heelboard, toeboard, both flitch panels etc. i must admit the doors did look fine when i put them in. Where would you suggest bracing while i do this kind of work?

Did you remove the floor before bracing it? If you did, then that kinda complicates things.. you'll need to take a load of measurements from another mini and brace it low down on the B pillar, the only major movement will be side to side, ideally you'd also fit diagonals across the floor area, but that makes it's rather difficult fitting the floor :(

I do still have the door step on if that makes any difference at all. I did remove the floor before bracing it properly. I have diagonals going from a-b pillars either side and where the bars cross it is wedled together.

I still can, when i take the door step out i will brace for sure but i thought that it would have been enough to keep it straight.
