Electrics are always a pain.. i have had many problems with all of my electrics and have had the same as whats happening with you a couple of times...
The bad news is that it is never a straight forward job to locate the problem... the good news is that it should only be a wire or something touching metal and shorting the fuse.
Example... i had my rear heated window that when i turned on kept shorting the fuse... after an hour or 2 of chasing wires through the dash etc i eventually lifted up the carpet to find a wire that was completely bare and touching the body. Once i found it i taped it all up with electrical tape and job done....

My advise to you... start wire chasing!!

Start from the indicator wires on the fuse back and chase backward.. some wires (if like on my mini) will dissapear into a big bulk of wires all taped together, obviously you cant see inside and you dont want to cut it open otherwise you will make a mess.. so asume that as they are taped up they will be ok and go past it for now

hey thanks for the reply. I did do a lot of wire chasing. Even though i knew which cable it was causing the fault, i couldnt find the problem. so i decided to chop the cable and lay a new one, which worked a treat  i can now wash my windows. hahaha.

Ah. the old bare wire under the carpet trouble eh. I had the same years ago, head lights fuse kept going. Could turn them on, test it and not find a problem. Drive the car and almost immediately the fuse would blow. Turned out to be a wire under the carpet that only shorted when you put the clutch pedal down

Got the same problem with mine at the moment, the thing is it blows the top fuse when the indicators aren`t even on!Monday i went through 10 35amp fuses!I disconnected the brakes switch to isolate it,it still blew, took the radio out as it goes off when it blows, still blew.Anyway ran out of fuses so put a 20amp in and my dad`s been driving it all week and it hasn`t blown!Bloody Mini`s!

20amp...

i was thinking of putting a differant fuse in there to stop it blowing but isnt it really dangerous???

yes, a fuse is designed to blow at a certain rating, it protects both the wire and the object the wire powers.
i has a similar problem to you guys however mine was much more fun. I was driving along the main road at about 60 when all my power died (it was about midnight) my connection to the battery vibrated undone :P. so i advise to chase wires lol
