in sum when on the throttle i hear a hissing type sound, and it stops when i take my foot off the pedal.
hard to say where its coming from but could it be the alternator / fab belt needing tightened?
cheers

very similar to an air leak past the filter on a carb.

sounds like an air leak past the filter on the throttle body.

doesnt quite sound like its from that area. But will def check it!!!
Its teh kind of sound which is hard to tell where its from , if you get me.
I would say its coming from the left hand side, (thats where i sit, the car is LHD), but i couldnt say if it was from the rear or fornt.
all a bit of a puzzle and no other symptoms apart from the hissing (esk) sound.

vacuum pipe from carb or vacuum unit
as he said no carb , i would take a guess at an air leak probably vacuum or air filter

is it a standard air filter? mine makes a hissing noise since i put my pipercross induction kit on!
agree, if its a perfomace one they all make that sound wether its carb or injected. My mate loves that sound (think he likes to imagine hes a got a turbo winding up lol)
