96 spi

in sum when on the throttle i hear a hissing type sound, and it stops when i take my foot off the pedal.

hard to say where its coming from but could it be the alternator / fab belt needing tightened?

cheers

Is your air filter sitting correctly on the carb ? I didnt put mine back on properly once and it made a sucking noise when I accelerated.Sounded a bit like a hissing noise!

sounds like an air leak past the filter on the throttle body.

very similar to an air leak past the filter on a carb. ;D

doesnt quite sound like its from that area. But will def check it!!!

Its teh kind of sound which is hard to tell where its from , if you get me.

I would say its coming from the left hand side, (thats where i sit, the car is LHD), but i couldnt say if it was from the rear or fornt.

all a bit of a puzzle and no other symptoms apart from the hissing (esk) sound.

you checked all the pipes are correct and tightened. might be worth opening the engine bay and getting a mate to rev it whilst you look and listen to see where its coming from
