Model: Cooper
Year: 1997

In prep for cutting out the rusty drivers side floor :shifty: I need to get rid of the sound deadening.

Seats are out. Carpet is out.

I give up how does the sound deadening come out from under the dash and around the steering column.
It looks like the steering column goes through the sound deadening and you will have to cut it to remove it.
I also can't see where it is fixed to behind the centre consol despite lying in the car upside down with a head torch on.

I am covered in brusses and fed up. Any pointers would be usefull or me and Stanley are going to get stroppy.

Cheers.

Basically it's held on by metal prongs folded through and over it to hold it in place, you should be able to see them once on the floor apart from the one behind the heater matrix, if you intend not to reuse it then you could go mad swith a stanley like i did mine. It's better to get rid of it as ist's just extra weight and traps moisture against the body, when I took mine out the car had been in a garage for a couple of months and it was sopping wet, so now theres no sound deadening in the car atall and to be honest I can't tell the difference.

By the way it BURNS really well :D

I think the Stanley knife is going to be used. I hadn't considered not putting it back. Sounds like a good plan, specially if you don't notice an increase in noise.

Thanks for everyone's help.
