Hello all,

First of all a cam number - i have bought a short engine with a CA4643 cam in it - what is this - is it standard?

Secondly, will any flywheel housing and clutch cover ' wok' from a 998 fit a 1275 block as long as whether it is A/A+ is observed - I know this is correct for gearboxes.

No idea about the cam - where did you get the number ? Yes - casings will fit - IF - you observe the A /A+ rules.

It was an ebay (impulse) buy! - the listing said...

Camshaft CA4643

Of which i recognized neither!
Could it be a mini sport cam?

The 643 is the same profile as the 544 not sure why they changed numbers,think it was to do with the oilpump drive one used a pin the other a slot drive.is yours the later slot type drive?
its quite a rare cam to find,and is designed for rally use,but is ok on the road.power from 2500 to around 7500rpm.
there should be some id marks aswell 707/1473.
this is a B L cam profile.

I haven't yet picked the engine up, but when i do i'll look for some more marks, the plan was to turbo charge it so more cam info would be useful please.

if its gonna be turbocharged you will need a different cam such as the ones avonbar sell specifically for this.
Will also need to lower the compression,by modifying the head and probably use different pistons.
Aswell as a load of other stuff.

Yeah, i know there's a lot involved, its going to be a slow project!
Do you know an approximate resale value (if anything) for this cam?
Can you still buy them?

If it is the 643 cam - and it is same profile as the 544 - then it's an excellent cam! But I agree - it's not for forced induction.

Camshaft is now in the classifieds if anyone is interested. Open to offers.
