90% of them get returned as faulty.

You get what you pay for and you'll be lucky if it lasts over a year. They have a very cheap mechanism which is simply -Poo.

If you want something like that, you need to pay for a good one - i.e £400-£500 for a kenwood or similar. My mates had a kenwood fitted for years now and had no problems at all.

Get a normal CD player then. Or buy a secondhand Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood.

correct, they are supposed to wired up where if the engine is running it can't be played. Or while it's in gear
a mate had one and fitted a switch so that if he got caught he could flick it and make it stop working

There supposed to be wired onto the handbrake warning switch. As soon as the handbrakes on, the screen will activate. Having said that, not alot of mini handbrakes will put the brakes on after 1 click.

I bought a similar Ripspeed one years ago for my Audi A6, it's actually not that bad if I'm honest, just the Ripspeed splash screens are a bit chav, only problem I've got with it is the volume knob has started to get a bit worn, but I use the remote for the volume. A mate of mine who works for Halfords said they're basically a rebadged Clarion unit, not sure how true that is but it's been in 3 different cars now.

Obviously they're never going to be as good as a Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine etc.

As for watching it on the move, when it was in my Accord Type R, driving home from Manchester, I watched a full series of Black books, infact even now in the Range Rover, I watched the 10 o'clock news last night :)

I was in the passenger seat of course though officer....

I got one a while back because it was on offer at about £90 quid lol

I find it's a bit awkward on a few menus and the face is a bit flimsy, but tbf it sounds damn good, and with a sub in it plays movies in 5.1 surround sound lmao

I mean £90 for a unit that will play mp3's off a dvd (4gb of music... menu doesn't like that many files but it'll random through them ok,) has a full colour screen, front and rear stereo amp outs, mono sub amp out, 2 screen outs, one screen in, line in, usb in and a remote?

No brainer for me lmao.

The screen is a bit bright at night to be honest but i've got it in a mk1 golf so it's right there infront of my face, In a mini it wouldn't be so bad!!!
