Hi, I'm restoring an Australian 1966 Morris Mini Deluxe. I'm at the point where I'm getting ready to paint the engine. I want it to be as close to original as possible, but the big question is, what colur would it have been painted originally. It has an 1100 motor.

Cheers,
James.

You lucky guy ! I really love Australian Minis ...
A 1100 Australian Mini is a Mini K I presume.
Have a look here : http://miniexperienc...-18/mini-k.html
Light green metallic is the answer.
So nice !
Best regards from France !

I just thought : is it really an 1966 car ? It shouldn't have a 1100 as the Mini K began in 1969.
Maybe you should check the numbers.

Hi, the car is a bog standard Mini Deluxe, not the Mini K. The motor for this one came out of another sacrificial Deluxe. The engine from this one was an 1100 and the number and body number matched the compliance plate on the firewall. At some point someone has done a bit of work on the motor, but painted it a disgusting red. While I have it out, I'll overhaul it and put it back to the original colour.

The whole car is getting a full restoration. The Kermit the frog green will be replaced and it will be transformed back to its original dark blue.

Love those quarter-light front windows (and want some) !
Same as the Innocenti windows (or is that vica versa) ?

I don't think they are the same.
Innocenti's are a perfect triangle whereas Australian Mini have four sides.
Here is an Innocenti 1001 :

and a Wolseley 1000 that also has the "four sides" quarter-lights ...
