Bought this from Mini Spares to fit between my Specialist Components S/S LCB and RC40 single box and CAT. Problem is, after I first fitted it the cat and knuckle kept grounding out on bumps. So I took it off and turned it over and it's still doing it. With 4 of us in the car, it actually scrapes going round corners

So, any of you lot know if the spring should be on the nearside or offside of the car?

Cheers!

Cheers!

There wasn't one to come off as I took off the original rover down pipe which is one piece.

I'll have a look later and see which way it is. If it keeps bottoming out, I'll have to consider fitting Hi-Lo's, as I've already fitted new knuckels and cones.

When i fitted that set up to mine, the knuckle joint always caught speedbumps due to weight of the CAT making it sag.In the end i took the whole lot of and now i just run a straight pipe to my back box.

Checked the link pipe last night and it's on the right way round, that is, spring to offside. But what I did notice is that the Y piece, depsite having a slight upwards bend in it, actually points down. I'd have thought it should have to point level  So despite the Y having the upwards kink and the link pipe being bent upwards at the knuckle, it's still way too close to the ground.

Anybody else fitted this manifold from SC?

had all the manifold and cat off today because it definately looked like the Y piece was pointing too low. got it in the vice and made it a nice orange colour at the final bend with the blow torch. swung on it a bit and managed to change the angle enough to make the Y parallel to the car once in situ. with the link pipe on it made the cat nearly but not quite touch the heat shield.

All in all, its a lot higher than it was, plus the cat was twisted before, so it should take less abuse. if it still bottoms out a lot, i'll look at fitting hi-lo's.

Bums. Althought the cat has stopped bottoming out, the RC40 is now knocking on the rear subframe. The CAT is as high and central in the exhaust tunnel as poss and with it in this new position the back box is only about 1/2" from the silencer. The rubber hangers are new but it can swing quite a lot on them.

Any tips or tricks to stop this happening?

Cheers!

i have exactly the same problem! i too have the SC stainless steel manifold, and whenever i take more then 1 passenger in the car it always scrapes on speed bumps...very annoying...although running on 10's doesn't help

and as you mentioned the Y piece points downwards, so it actually forcing it closer to the ground! With you having the same problem it confirms my suspicions that the manifod is faulty and weight of the cat is making it worse.....time to ditch the cat!
