I bought the Avonbar modified Dizzy to run on my 1293.

Where what would normally be 2oclock on the standard one is now 8oclock on the modified - surely this cant be right.

Have they built mine wrong or is this an actual timing advance method they do?

The engine runs fine etc but it does feel like its lacking in the power department.

Any ideas?

Surely you've just got the spindle the classic 180 degrees out? Has it been removed and put back in at any point?

Oh my giddy aunt!

What Stu was correctly pointing out is there is two ways YOU can install it correctly or 180 degrees out

Have a look in your Haynes manual in the first chapter called Engine.

Page 60 and you want section 65 'distributer drive - refitting' >_<

If the timeing is out that is down to your installation...

If the advance curve is out that is down to their modification...

Sounds like you have installed it upside down.

There is a main supplier of distributors who seem to think it a good idea to put the distributor base plate on backwards..... which means that a lot of people are having to put the leads on 180 degrees out of sync ;)
