This is a quick picture of my coil pack, leads and cylinders. Can anyone tell me if it is wired correctly? I don't know which is cylinder is 1, 2, 3, 4 and the firing order or how the leads should connect to the coil pack. I'm going off a couple pictures in the service manual, but I'm not sure if this is correct.

firstly is there a problem with it running?

secondly the number 1 cylender is beside the alternator. and 4 is at the other end

There are 2 differnt ways to wire the coil pack on the MPi depending upon the year, vin number and coil pack type

This is my coil & wiring etc which appears to be the same as yours. I have noticed that the Rover workshop manual shows 2 & 4 swapped position on the coil, and wondered why, but then i havent ever tried it Rovers way - they might be wrong !

My mpi runs with 2 and 4 swapped over

If I have it setup this way it backfires like a *woman of ill repute*

Hi Mike, please confirm - is yours setup like my photos, or as Rover states in the workshop manual? - see below

The rover picture is definitely wrong, the wasted spark system works with effectively two coils, one at the top and one at the bottom. So you have cylinders 1 and 4 on the same coil and cylinders 2 and 3 on the same coil (bottom and top respectively)

I will confirm when I go home how mine is setup.
