Hi

Have recently fitted a 3 branch to m Mpi, and relocated my lambo at the bottom of the manifold just before the Y piece, but know the car is over heating very badly? sometimes after only 15mins, fan and pump are fine??

Yes it's actually called a lambda sensor... Now to try and help...

You say you have fitted the sensor before the y piece? If this is correct you will need to relocate it to after the y piece so that it is exposed to the exaust gases from all of your cylinders so the ECU can determine the correct A/F ratio. Your A/F ratio could be far enough out to cause overheating.

Maybe you could post up some pictures so we can all see exactly what's going on?

On my Maniflow LCB for my SPi the Lambda sensor screws in half way up so only reads the outside pipes. This is how it came as standard. May be different for the MPi though but wouldn't have thought so.

The Lamba sensor is there to tell teh ECU when to adjust the air/fuel mixture to give the optimum running of the engine.

Sounds like you might have an airlock in the watr pipes or altenatily a bad rad cap

I would suggest flushing all the coolent out the car. run a low pressure hose throu the system untill all the water passes out clear.

Refit all hoses and fill the car with water and coolent suitable for summer use. Squeeze the top rad hose to circulate it around the system. Top up again to the mark. LEAVE THE EXPANSION CAP OFF

Switch the heater to speed 2 and full heat. Start the car and allow it to warm up. keep an eye on the water levels. The gauge should move up to half way in about 10 minutes.

Check water levels and top up if required

Fit a new pressure cap on the expansion tank. These can be obtained from halfords. Ask for a meto expansion tank cap... exactly the same. if they ask what year, say 88 onwards.
