I'm making a loom to connect up to the iso socket on my new stereo ,where exactly can i draw power for the plug that lights up the head. I'm a real donut as far as eletrickery is concerned.

Sidelight feed from the back of the speedo, red wire with a green trace if I remember rightly

Just to add to this, it dosnt actually provide illumination, despite whats its labeld as. It just dims the lights at night so it dosnt dazzle you.

Then I'll still be able to see and adjust the stereo at night ? OK so I may not even bother hooking that wire up,especially as it's probably a pain to get behind the speedo,no?

What i would do is just put it to positive, it might be slightly dimmer during the day, but at least it wont blind you at night. However it shouldnt be that hard just to tap it into one of the illumination points, you could take it directly from the switch if it makes it easier?

My Kenwood dims when the headlights are on without even connecting the dimmer wire. Depending on what type of head unit you have, might be worth it to check this out on yours as well.

Mine has a display off option just goes all dark, ooo spooky.
