Hi, I have chrome air vents on my 1976 mini and they are a bit worse for wear, so i'm going to them re done. But I cant seem to find anywhere that will do it. Does anyone know of any good, cheap, chromers?? The air vents are the interior ball joint ones at either end of the dash, so the chromer needs to be able to chrome plastic, or do whatever they do to make plastic look like chrome. If any knows any places that can do this then that would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Ben.
Thanks, Ben.

I would imagine it'll probably be cheaper to just buy new ones

Are you talking about the circular chrome air vent surrounds? If so these are just covers that are stuck over the existing plastic ones, theses only cost a few quid and are readily available from just about every traders stand that you will see at a show.

You could go out and buy some Plastikote Chrome effect paint and some lacquer and redo them yourself. Remove any flaky chrome, lightly sand the rings down with some very fine sandpaper. Then a few light coats of the chrome effect paint followed by the lacquer and you'll have a decent finish and probably more hardwearing...

I'm thinking he means the eye ball vents them selfs, as i'm thinking the early ones were chromed and not just plastic.

Yeah its the actual eyeball vent itself not any of the surrounds. You cant buy them anymore as they dont make the chrome ones anymore i've already tried that. I have thought about chrome paint but i'm worried about the finish it will give, so I was looking to get them re done as the were done originally. Does anyone know of a good company that will chrome plastic at a resonable price??
