In summer - definitely don't bother! You 'may' want to heat it in winter - in which case put it in the return loop from the heater. But consider - twin carbs don't have heated inlets - so why should the single need heating ??

Mine runs better with it plumbed in - No matter what the weather.

How have you routed your pipes duds if you have no heater take-off from the top of the head?

I agree with BMC, you wont get any advantage from having it plumbed in. In my oppinion it just clutters up the engine bay with more hoses.

The difference with twin carbs is that the jets can squirt directly into the head; a single carb is more likely to put fuel on the manifold wall and the tract is longer for heating to have more effect.

You should get better atomisation with it plumbed in whatever the weather.
