Hi everyone i was just checking the insurance costs on a 1979 mini van today, and when i put the reg number in it didnt find it straight away, then gave the options of your normal mini's, like 850, clubman, cooper etc etc, but one of them was "SDL" is that a mini van or? bit confussed, as i really want to know where being 20 years old i get a mini van insured.

special de luxe
they also do a DL which i would assume (me being correct of course?) thats de lux

just looked in the haynes manual in the wiring section.
quote
"wiring diagram 3 - mini 1000 Special de luxe and cooper s mk 111 (with dynamo and toggle type switches.)

so assume thats what it means

you need to get on the phone to some specialist insurers, compare etc are not set up for commercial vehicles or classics so not much chance of getting the right cover or the right deal.

Try:
Footman James
Sureterm
Peter James
Brentacre
HIC
Adrian Flux

Web quotes are too inacurate and restrictive for this type of car. talk to the people that know what they are doing.

Be careful with insurance, I can't even insure my Pickup at the moment, due to me being 17 and it having a 1275cc engine. Classed as heavy modification, yet my Mini 35 has a 1275 in, from factory, and insurance is widely available.

Check insurers will insure you before buying.

Yeh i used to have a modded mini city with a metro 1275 in and i had a lot of probelms with insurance, but got it in the end however it was really exepensive, no one seems to no that a mini van existed, i am 19 now but still no one will touch me.

By the way mate i love ur pickup.

That's the problem, I've spent so much on it I don't want to sell it. Owes me around the £7k mark, no idea how I've managed to spend that much, but I have! :w00t:
